The Art and Science of ‘People-ing’
This last Tuesday the Northwest Indiana Influential Women’s Association held a luncheon workshop. Ninety men and women attended the Women and Leadership workshop presented by NWIIWA. The Workshop was a huge success thanks to our speaker, Donna Flynn.
Donna, from the Skills Mastery Group, presented her speech on “The Art and Science of ‘People-ing’,” while attendees enjoyed their lunch. Her presentation focused on human interaction and the function of relationships within the workplace. She informed the audience that relationships are important in the workplace because of human biology. We are biologically made to make connections with others. Donna explained how coworkers should interact with one another and how to deal with defensiveness within the workplace. By addressing “defensiveness” within ourselves and others we put everyone in a better position to advance socially and professionally. She claimed that building these relationships and recognizing “defensiveness” are key to set any company or organization ahead. Donna offered inspiration to the influential women of our organization.

Thank you to Donna Flynn and thank you to all who attended the event. Stay tuned for more news regarding future NWIIWA events.
