Our Mission Matters More Now Than Ever
Women have lost a lot of ground when it comes to gender equality this year. This is why it’s so important for our association to continue our push forward. NWIIWA’s mission to advance women has become absolutely vital – both for current members and more importantly for future generations of women in NWI.
In rising to these new challenges, NWIIWA is adapting. After all, isn’t that what women do best?
First and foremost, the annual awards banquet has been moved forward until 2021. One of the best parts about the banquet is listening to the cheers of people who came to personally applaud their finalist. That’s incredibly important for our nominees, and we want to preserve that part of the awards banquet by moving the event forward to a time when all can safely attend.
Second, we are broadening our networking and education options substantially. Today, work is happening anywhere. We believe that professional development can too.
Over the coming weeks, NWIIWA committees will be working on planning, strategizing, and testing of new ways to bring networking and educational events to members remotely. This is going to be exciting, because it’s now easier to connect with global experts that have a lot of valuable insights.
As we work to develop these plans, I’d like to encourage all of our members to become more active in the process. Your perspectives are needed and welcomed. Join one of our committees; find out how you can become more active; do your part to help us make NWI a better, stronger place where women can excel.
Yours truly,
Erica Dombey, NWIIWA Board Chair
